Балтийское море — уникальная экологическая система, составная часть глобальной экологической системы планеты, остро нуждающаяся в защите от разрушительной антропогенной деятельности человека, связанной с производством и потреблением атомной энергии и техногенных радионуклидов, сельским хозяйством, транспортировкой нефти и нефтепродуктов, обработкой сточных вод и промышленно-бытовых отходов. Приведен обзор основных экологических проблем Балтийского моря и путей их решения.
